Boss Monster

The Cultist Leader has ventured deep below the Starship wreckage.

Fleshing out one of the Boss enemies.

Thinking about the NPC and enemy ideas from my previous post, I naturally fleshing one out that wasn't even on my list.  The Cultist leader will have found a universal translator (of sorts), Yeah, the thing I said I wasn't going to include. It only works with written language, and since Ta'ak written language is rudimentary, symbolic, and instinctive (thanks for that idea "We're Alive" podcast!) the translator works rather well.  Using it, he has uncovered many secrets, and understands that the bomb will not function in its current state. It needs a replacement energy source, and as fate would have it there seems to be one in the primitive environment of the fantasy setting.

The leader has attuned the mask to track the power source, and has ventured deep within the dungeon levels below the star ship with several battle hardened cultists and a few Ta'ak for good measure.

I think I can tie this character to one of the ideas from before...
The Cultist leader has a unique protection spell that soaks damage (set amount of Hit Points to destroy)
The shield created by the spell is invisible unless attacked. When the shield takes damage, small swirling devils can be seen, taking the hit for the master. The devils squeal and shriek with delight any time they absorb a blow. Once the set amount of HP are depleted, things can get pretty hairy for the characters. A larger devil rips through the small breach used to summon the lesser devils. The Cultist leader will likely be killed if this event occurs, but the characters will have much greater concerns dealing with a much larger devil bent on extracting as much pain and agony from them as she can...

New Item: Mask of the Cyclops

"Vaktori Diplomat Headgear"
The single "camera" projects images on an internal
screen and protects the visual senses of the wearer.
Helmet (+1)
Similar to a Helm of Comprehend Languages and Read Magic, this Mask grants the wearer the ability to comprehend written languages, provided the wearer is literate.

When fully functional, the mask operated as an universal translator, but this function has been impaired. The internal speaker are damaged and the mask can no longer allow the wearer to comprehend spoken languages, but it will translate the speech of the wearer to another language being spoken.

The Mask was designed to translate a wide range of languages included those consisting of light emissions, and as such protects the visual senses of the wearer, providing immunity spells or abilities that involve the target's vision (gorgon gaze, dazzling lights, etc)

The Mask is not based on Ta'ak technology, and as such has a stable and safe internal power source that will last indefinitely.
